The fund industry has been abuzz with rumors that Michael Ma, formerly head of retail advertising and prospect marketing at
Vanguard, has returned to the distribution research and consulting firm
kasina, where Ma had worked for eight years, serving as principal and chief business officer.
Well, badly quoting Mark Twain here, the rumors of Ma's return have been greatly exaggerated.
After a query from
MFWire, kasina chief executive
Steven Miyao got on the phone with us to clarify the situation.
Even though Ma left kasina full-time in 2008, he has always done at least some work with kasina, as a research partner, since then.
Miyao said that that situation hasn't changed at all. However, the kasina CEO said that a number of Ma rumors had sprung up recently for some reason. He didn't know why.
Ma left
left Vanguard in 2013 to serve as chief growth officer of the online investment platform
Betterment.
