Nadia Papagiannis has left the building, and is walking to Wall Street.
Morningstar's famed Director of Alternative Fund Research has left the research firm to join
Goldman, where she will serve as Director of Alternative Investment Strategy for Global Third Party Distribution.
An internal memo from Goldman explained the reasons for the hire in this way:
We are pleased to announce that Nadia Papagiannis has joined GSAM as the Director of Alternative Investment Strategy for Global Third Party Distribution. In this newly created role, Nadia will be focused on educating clients on liquid alternatives and the role they play in portfolios. As the liquid alternatives market has grown in complexity, so has the demand for educational programs among our clients. Building out our educational content and thought leadership in this space is an essential element of our business strategy.
Nadia joins the alternatives team in TPD from Morningstar, where she was Director of Alternative Fund Research. Nadia is widely regarded as one of the foremost experts on the liquid alternatives sector and was named a Rising Star of Mutual Funds by Institutional Investor News in 2011. Nadia brings a fresh and objective perspective on the liquid alternatives market. The addition of Nadia to the team underscores our commitment to building a world-class liquid alternatives platform and furthering our educational program among advisors and their clients.
Meanwhile, a
Morningstar spokesperson had this to say on the move: "We remain committed to our coverage of alternative strategies, and we plan to fill Nadia’s role."
