Winklevoss Twins Tell Critics to Chill About Bitcoin ETF

News summary by MFWire's editors

Barrons' Brendan Conway covered the Winklevoss twins' speech at the Value Investing Congress, writing that some reporters were shocked the two were picked to speak at the event.

Conway writes that Tyler Winklevoss argued the creator of Bitcoin didn't need to be known or trusted, saying of Satoshi Nakamoto, "You don't need to know who Satoshi is, you don't need to trust him, you don't need anyone to trust anyone to participate…The kimono is completely open [because the coding is open]."

A great start to winning over investors' confidence, I'm sure.

On terrorism, the assurance grows, with one of the twins saying on terrorism, "You're either trading it for AK 47s , or you're cashing it out for AK 47s….There are entry points into the system…[so the anonymity] is overstated. A lot of these issued can be solved. Can it potentially be used for illicit purposes? Sure. But it's the same for cash and everything else."
