Virtus [
profile] has pulled the trigger on its secondary offering.
The Connecticut fund firm reported today that it has 1,129,032 shares of its common stock in an underwritten public offering at a price to the public of $155.00 per share, totaling nearly $175 million.
The net offering proceeds to Virtus from the sale of the shares are expected to be $166.3 million, after deducting the underwriting discount and other estimated offering expenses, but excluding any exercise of the underwriters' option to purchase additional shares.
Virtus first announced plans for the offering on

its bold plan for the money.
The offering is expected to close on or about September 17, 2013, subject to customary closing conditions. In addition, the company has granted the underwriters a 30-day option to purchase up to an additional 169,354 shares of common stock on the same terms and conditions.
Goldman, Sachs & Co. and Morgan Stanley & Co. LLC are acting as joint lead book-running managers. BofA Merrill Lynch is also serving as bookrunning manager. UBS, Citigroup and RBC Capital Markets are co-lead managers and Raymond James, Sandler O'Neill and Wells Fargo are co-managers for the offering.

HARTFORD, Conn., Sept. 12, 2013-- Virtus Investment Partners, Inc. (VRTS), which operates a multi-manager asset management business, today announced the sale of 1,129,032 shares of its common stock in an underwritten public offering at a price to the public of $155.00 per share.
