Kansas City-based Waddell & Reed Financial has closed its acquisition of Mackenzie Investment Management. The broker-dealer purchased the Florida-based investment management unit of Toronto's Mackenzie Financial for $59.6 million.

As part of the transaction, Mackenzie Financial will advise or subadvise new W&R funds launched under the Universal brand in Canada.
