Franklin Templeton PM
Michael Hasenstab made it to
InvestmentNews'
"Power 20 for 2012". The list, put together by staffers of the advisor-centric publication, highlights people that are expected to have the greatest impact on financial advisors and the broader industry in the coming year.
The 37-year-old Hasenstab runs the $61.2 billion
Templeton Global Bond Fund. Citing Morningstar data,
InvestmentNews notes that the fund had inflows of $15.2 billion through end-October. Its inflows topped those of any fund in all other investment categories. Hasenstab, a dual citizen of the U.S. and Australia, is also PM of the $3.3 billion
Templeton Global Total Return Fund.
"Crunching the numbers is important, but there's no substitute for in-person research, meeting with policymakers and walking the streets," Hasenstab told
InvestmentNews.
Morningstar named Hasenstab the 2010 Fixed Income Manager of the Year and Fortune put him on its "40 Under 40" list of young guns in October.
Also making it to
InvestmentNews' "Power 20" is SEC chair Mary Schapiro.
