Capital Group associates are mourning the
passing of
Jon B. Lovelace, chairman emeritus of
Capital Research and Management Company and former chairman of
The Capital Group of Companies. Lovelace died Wednesday after a long
illness at the age of 84.
Capital Group spokesman Chuck Freadhoff told
The MFWire.com that the mutual fund firm plans
to set up a special e-mail box where staffers can express their condolences to the Lovelace family
and share thoughts and memories.
Lovelace is survived by his wife Lillian, daughter Carey Lovelace and three sons, Jeffrey, Jim and Rob, and six grandchildren. Jim and Rob are portfolio counselors at Capital.
The company also plans to post video interviews of Lovelace on the corporate intranet. "Some associates may not have had the chance to meet him," said Freadhoff. "This will enable them to get a better understanding of him and how his views
influenced the company culture."
Associates are also talking about holding a reception in the firm's downtown Los Angeles headquarters
to honor Lovelace and express their condolences with the family in person. No final plans have been made for a reception.
