A man accused of sending dud pipe bombs to
American Century [see profile] and
Janus [see profile] will not be released in advance of his trial in the spring. The
Associated Press reports that a federal judge in the Northern District Illinois recently ruled that
John Tomkins, aka "the Bishop," will stay in jail until his trial in April.
In 2007, Tomkins allegedly mailed two faulty pipe bombs from Rolling Meadows, Illinois (a Chicago suburb), one to someone in Denver involved with the
Janus Small Cap Fund, and the other to someone in Kansas City, Missouri with American Century.
The defendant also allegedly sent threatening letters to both mutual fund firms. He's representing himself and claims that he's being held unconstitutionally.
