Northern Trust has appointed
Jason Tyler, currently director of research operations at
Ariel Investments, as head of corporate strategy and market development. Tyler will start at Northern Trust
on September 6 and report to chairman and CEO
Frederick Waddell.
Tyler will take over from Caroline Devlin, who is moving to the personal financial services unit.
Tyler, 40, is currently a senior vice president at Ariel.
A former Ariel intern, he re-joined the company in 2003 after 10 years at Bank One/American
National Bank.

John Rogers told Crain's Chicago Business that
Charles Bobrinskoy, vice-chairman and director of research, will assume Tyler's responsibilities. Rogers also revealed plans to hire a pair of research analysts.
