Northern Trust Taps Talent from Ariel

Northern Trust has appointed Jason Tyler, currently director of research operations at Ariel Investments, as head of corporate strategy and market development. Tyler will start at Northern Trust on September 6 and report to chairman and CEO Frederick Waddell.

Tyler will take over from Caroline Devlin, who is moving to the personal financial services unit.

Tyler, 40, is currently a senior vice president at Ariel. A former Ariel intern, he re-joined the company in 2003 after 10 years at Bank One/American National Bank.

Ariel CEO John Rogers told Crain's Chicago Business that Charles Bobrinskoy, vice-chairman and director of research, will assume Tyler's responsibilities. Rogers also revealed plans to hire a pair of research analysts.
