Richard Clarida, an adviser to
Pimco [see profile] and a Columbia University professor, said he is not in the running for a Federal Reserve governor post.
"While I hold the Federal Reserve Board in the highest regard, I am not a candidate to be a Federal Reserve Governor at this time," the
Wall Street Journal quoted
Clarida as stating on his Web site. Clarida said he would remain fully engaged with his roles at Pimco and Columbia University "for the forseeable future."
Clarida's name
cropped up in media reports over the weekend as one of two people President Obama was eyeing to fill two spots on the Fed Board. The other was Harvard University's Jeremy Stein.
