FRC Swaps Chiefs

Financial Research Corporation just hired a new chief while saying goodbye to an old one. Today the Boston-based asset management research and consulting company confirmed the addition on May 16 of Bob Jenkins as its new president. Meanwhile, FRC CEO Bruce Fador has moved on.

"Bruce has left to pursue other interests," FRC spokeswoman Jill Totenberg confirmed.

The MFWire could not immediately reach Fador for comment.

Jenkins joins FRC from JSB Consultancy. Prior to that he spent more than 15 years at Fidelity in various investing, operations and trading roles, and he also worked as an associate at McKinsey. FRC chairman Bob Hedges (who leads FRC's parent, Mercatus), praised Jenkins for being "highly respected by the financial services industry for his expertise and thought leadership."

"He will build significantly on FRC's current ability to provide thorough and insightful analysis of key issues for asset managers, distributors and others in the investment marketplace," Hedges stated.

In an interview with The MFWire, Jenkins pointed to three particular areas he plans to focus on at FRC: retirement and retirement income, alternatives, and risk management.

"It's an industry that's going to go through a lot of transformative change over the next decade or two," Jenkins said of asset management. "FRC has a great brand, and they have a great presence in the marketplace."

Prior to joining FRC, Jenkins was at Fidelity Management & Research and Fidelity Investments, where he held several leadership positions, including Vice President in the Investment Analysis Group which provided portfolio analysis that guided corporate and product strategies, and in the Global Asset Allocation Group, where he held the title of Vice President and Investment Director for Fidelity's Freedom Fund with over $120 billion in assets. He previously was a McKinsey & Co. consultant in the Asset Management strategy practice. A frequent presenter at industry conferences, Mr. Jenkins received his MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and his BS from the University of Arizona.
