Sieg, who runs the retirement services business at BofA, and Thiel, who is responsible for the firm's private bank unit, are reportedly among four candidates vying to replace LaMothe, who is retiring next month to pursue personal interests. Other candidates include two regional heads, William Lorenz
, director of the Southeast area of brokers, and Donald Plaus
, who runs the Northeast, both of whom report to LaMothe.
