] has the reputation of running Wall Street. That reputation does not extend to its mutual funds, though. Under McNamara, the firm is aggressively seeking to change that perception. He is focusing the firm on a three-part marketing strategy around bringing shareholders its access to the capital markets, helping advisors with their business and creating strong performance capabilities in areas such as absolute strategies where Goldman has a sustainable advantage.
McNamara is also recruiting executives from the retirement industry to build out its nascent defined contribution, investment-only push.
