After the Spitzer investigations gave mutual funds their darkest black eye, the ICI's board turned to a Washington lawyer to lead the industry's trade group in 2004. The former Schwab executive and Dechert partner has worked seemingly everywhere in Washington, including the White House in the Reagan adminstration. He has even earned a medal from the Department of Defense for his work on national security.
