Great-West Retirement Services is not known as a mutual fund firm, but it is now a dominant player in 401(k) distribution across all segments in that growing market. The insurer's Fascore platform is also the base upon which sister company Putnam Investments is rebuilding its own 401(k) business under Bob Reynolds and his team. Both Great-West and Putnam are a part of Canada's Desmarais-controlled Power Financial.
