A Former Blue Angel Lands at Janus

Reported by Armie Margaret Lee

Janus hired Matthew Shortal as sales director for its financial intermediary sales channel. Shortal covers the northern California region. Janus formally announced Shortal's appointment, along with that of Riley Horlacher as sales director covering northern Texas, on Thursday morning. The MFWire first reported on Horlacher's new gig at Janus on February 8.

Shortal reports to Keith Watts, executive director of private wealth and trust. Horlacher reports to Eric Hargens, divisional vice president of the advisor solutions group.

It was not immediately clear whether Shortal's post is new or pre-existing. The MFWire could not immediately reach a company spokesperson for comment.

Previously, Shortal worked as a financial advisor with Barclays. Before that, he spent 14 years in the US Marine Corps. He served as an officer, aviator, and flight instructor in the USMC. He trained at the U.S. Navy Fighter Weapons School and was a demonstration pilot with the U.S. Navy Blue Angels.
