FDI Communications has promoted
John Drachman to the position of vice president of business development. Drachman is charged with advancing the firm's external marketing services. The Boston-based firm provides sales, marketing, trading, and other services to fund companies.
Drachman is expected to raise the firm's profile with investment managers interested in the financial intermediary channel. Additional responsibilities include researching the FDI Communication's client roster and finding sales synergies in the other services the firm offers.
Bisys's February acquisition of FDI's parent company,
Boston Institutional Group, a service provider for mutual fund complexes, may create additional openings; as the
MutualFundWire noted early this year, the zero overlap in client lists and product lineups is expected to present untapped, lucrative opportunities for both sides of the merger.
A FDI Communications spokesperson declined to comment on cross-selling strategies with Bisys, citing that the deal had not yet been closed.
Drachman was formerly the head of program development at FDI Communications, a post he held for two years. The spokesperson also declined to comment on the previous vice president, further stating that the position's resposibilities had evolved during its six month vacancy.
