Dreyfus has beefed up its marketing department, specifically building out its Web team. Its most recent move was to hire
Sean Foley to head its new e-business group and to oversee content and design for the firm's Web site. Foley joined the firm from
New York Life Investment Management.
An official at NYLIM said that a "restructuring" in the e-commerce division at the insurer had left Foley's previous position with an ambiguous outlook.
"The web has a large [role] ... in attracting new assets and providing an online experience for individual investors and financial advisors," said a spokesperson for Dreyfus, explaining the creation of the new team.
Previously, the New York-based fund firm and unit of Mellon Bank relied on employees from the marketing department, as well as other parts of the firm, to handle web and e-commerce responsibilities.
Foley, most recently a vice president of e-commerce for New York Life Investment Management, will report directly to
Stephen Burke, president of advertising and marketing. Dreyfus has also hired
Lillian Schulz, Web content director, and
John Thudium, Web graphic design director, to fill out Foley's group. All of these positions are newly created.
The latest hires follow on the heels of Dreyfus' hiring senior executives in sales and marketing last February.
