Scudder Kemper Goes East

Reported by Sean Hanna, Editor in Chief

Scudder Kemper Investments has opened an office in Singapore under Alan Lim, managing director of Scudder Investments Singapore Limited. The firm said that Lim will also serve as head of the firm's institutional business in Singapore and other ASEAN countries. He will report to Anthony Moody, managing director and head of Scudder Investments' institutional asset management business in the Asia-Pacific Basin region, excluding Australia and Japan.

"Alan's leadership, asset management experience, and knowledge of the local market combined with Scudder's extensive global reach and deep resources will help launch Scudder Investments into a dominant position in Singapore's burgeoning asset management business," said Moody.

Scudder Investments Singapore Limited has applied to The Monetary Authority of Singapore for a license to provide both globally and locally produced investment products to retail and institutional investors in Singapore. The firm's Pacific Basin Equity Management Team will be based in Singapore, and the Pacific Basin product will be distributed worldwide. A full complement of infrastructure functions will provide support for these and other businesses.

Lim will provide overall management leadership and direction for the recently established Singapore office. He will have primary responsibility for new business development, relationship management, and client service for institutional clients. He will also work with the regional retail business in the distribution of mutual funds through intermediaries.
