Manulife Financial has bolstered the investments available in its Manufacturers Trust. The trust provides the underlying investments for the insurer's Venture fixed and variable annuities, its Venture universal life insurance and its Pinnacle Series 401(k) retirement products.
The moves were made to offer institutional products to the insurer's pension clients, said
Kendall Kay, chief strategy officer for U.S. group pensions.
The new options include four new index portfolios managed its investment arm, Manufacturers Advisors Corporation four retail portfolios and three institutional portfolios.
The new institutional portfolios are: a midcap fund, the Dynamic Growth Fund (managed by Janus Capital); a balanced fund, the Tactical Allocation Fund (managed by Mitchell Hutchins Asset Management), and an Internet fund, the Internet Technologies Fund (managed by Munder Capital Management).
The new retail portfolios are: The Manulife International Small Cap fund which invests in the Dreyfus Founders Passport Fund, The ManuLife Internet Technologies Fund, which invests in the Munder NetNet Fund, the ManuLife Worldwide Fund, which invests in the Janus Adviser Worldwide Fund, and the Manulife Growth Equity Fund, which invests in the Prudential Jennison Growth Fund.
