J . & W. Seligman & Co., today said that it has named both
Michael Guthrie and
Gregory Cote, as senior vice president and investment officer to its technology group. The firm has also announced two additions to its small-cap team.
Guthrie, 35, who will be based in Seligman's Palo Alto office, will focus on venture capital investments. Previously, he was with
Credit Suisse First Boston where he was vice president and head of semiconductor banking.
Cote, 34, will be based in the firm's New York office and will also be focusing on venture capital investments. Prior to joining Seligman, he was vice president/team leader at Venture Bank, a division of
PNC Inc..
Both Cote and Guthrie are part of the Technology Team, headed by
Paul Wick. "The technology and small-cap sectors offer tremendous investment opportunities. With these new hires, Seligman remains at the forefront of capturing these opportunities for investors," said Richard Schmaltz, managing director and director of investments for Seligman.
In addition, the firm also announced two new appointments to its small-cap team.
Mandhir Uppal, 32, and
Michael Alpert, 31, are the new investment associates covering the retail, consumer, telecommunications and finance sectors. Previously, both were with
American Century Investment Management where they worked as equity investment analysts. The team is headed by
Arsen Mrakovcic.
