Van Kampen Asset Management Inc. plans to launch a technology stock fund, creatively named the Van Kampen Technology Fund. The new fund will invest mainly in common stocks of companies that rely extensively on technology, science or communications in product development or operations.
The portfolio will be managed by a team headed by
Gary M. Lewis, senior vice president and lead portfolio manager.
Dudley Brickhouse,
David Walker and
Janet Luby will be co-managers on the fund. The same group also manages Van Kampen Aggressive Growth Fund/A (
VAGAX) and Van Kampen Emerging Growth Fund/A (
ACEGX). Lewis, lead manager on both funds, has managed Aggressive Growth since its inception in May 1996 and Emerging Growth since 1989.
The fund will offer A, B, and C shares, with A shares carrying a 5.75% front-end load, B shares carrying a 5% back-end load and C shares carrying a 1% level load. The company expects the expense ratio for A shares to be 1.42%, including a 0.90% management fee and a 0.25% marketing fee. Class B and C shares expense ratios of 2.17%, including a 0.90% management fee and a 1% marketing fee.
