Pimco has appointed
Robert Ettl as chief information officer to its largest investment management unit,
Pacific Investment Management Company.
In his newly created position Ettl will oversee the company's overall technical strategy including the investment process area and investment operations. He will also be in charge of the development of new systems, a company spokesperson said.
Ettl, 40, was formerly executive vice president and chief operating officer of
Pimco's Global Unit. There has not been a decision made about his replacement, the spokesperson added.
William S. Thompson, managing director and CEO of Pacific Investment will be overseeing Ettl. "Bob has the necessary vision, industry knowledge, energy and the demonstrated ability to deliver the results that this position requires," Thompson said.
