Fidelity Investments Institutional Services

It's been nearly a year since Peter Cieszko stepped into the job
of leading the Fidelity unit that distributes the Boston Behemoth's
mutual fund and 401(k) products through advisors. Cieszko wasted
little time in putting his stamp on Fidelity Investment Institutional
Services. He implemented some changes at the unit, including the appointment of
new heads of distribution and product management.
Cieszko joined Fidelity in January from Evergreen Investments, where
he was in line to succeed Dennis Ferro as CEO at the end of 2008. Evergreen
had designated Cieszko, then head of its global distribution arm, as Ferro's successor back in July 2008,
three months before Evergreen's parent Wachovia Corp. agreed to sell itself to
Wells Fargo.
Before his stint at Evergreen, Cieszko led global distribution at Legg Mason,
which he joined as part of the firm's asset swap with Citigroup. Earlier in his
career, he was a top executive in Citi's Smith Barney unit, where he played a key
role in the wirehouse's separately managed account efforts. Cieszko's resume also
includes stops at Nuveen Investments, Montgomery Asset Management, E.F. Hutton & Company
and Merrill Lynch.
