Schwab is hosting a press briefing Monday in New York City to promote its foray into ETFs, with president and CEO Walt Bettinger scheduled to join in via satellite.

Bettinger, according to the invitation sent to reporters, will discuss "ETF innovation for clients." Public relations firm SunStar is organizing the event for Schwab.

San Francisco-based Schwab is launching eight ETFs. Its N-1A filing became effective Thursday last week. The date listed on the prospectus is November 3.

Executives that will be on-site at Manhattan's Hilton Hotel include Schwab & Co. senior vice president Peter Crawford, who will talk about the firm's ETF strategy; Schwab Investment Management chief investment officer Jeff Mortimer, who will discuss the products and Schwab Advisor Services senior vice president Bernie Clark, who will cover ETFs and independent advisors.
