ING's decision to divest its investment management business
has triggered changes in the firm's top ranks, a company spokesman confirmed
to
The MFWire. On Thursday, the insurer appointed
Jeff Becker the new CEO of ING Investment Management Americas, which includes
its mutual fund business. Becker, previously COO,
takes over from
Rob Leary, who becomes CEO of ING Insurance U.S.
Also on Thursday, ING named
Gilbert Van Hassel the new global CEO of
ING Investment Management. Van Hassel replaces
Jacques de Vauclery, who
stepped down on Monday to pursue other interests.
Becker will report to Van Hassel.
On Monday, ING revealed plans to divest its investment management and insurance
operations over the next four years. Those plans prompted the need for a new management structure,
ING spokesman Dana Ripley told
The MFWire.
Van Hassel will report to
Tom McInerney, who
is taking on the role of COO on the ING Management Board Insurance. He has day-to-day responsibilities for all insurance and investment management operations.
