At least some of the long-awaited money market fund regulations may lie just around the corner. The
Wall Street Journal's Daisy Maxey
reports that
Sarah ten Siethoff, senior counsel in the
SEC's division of investment management, this week told attendees at the 15th annual Money Fund Forum in New York that the SEC aims to adopt "many" of its money fund proposals before the beginning of 2010.
The SEC first proposed new money fund regs in June, as the industry reeled from the collapse of the
Reserve Primary fund in September 2008.
Maxey also highlights new research from
Vanguard, previously reported on in our sister publication (see
The 401kWire, 10/20/2009), suggesting that investors still see equities as a key piece of saving for retirement.
