As 2010 looms,
Morningstar readies its plan to celebrate the last ten years. Morningstar director of fund research
Russel Kinnel is searching for nominees for the Manager of the Decade. The award will be in addition to the Manager of the Year award, which the Chicago firm has been handing out annually since 1987.
Morningstar will name winners in three broad asset classes: domestic stock, international stock, and fixed income, and is looking for "managers who made a lot of money for a lot of people." Kinnel is still in the early stages of the nomination process, and the award will be presented in mid-December.
"This is an opportunity to recognize who has done well for a long period," Kinnel told
The MFWire. "It's close to a lifetime achievement award."
