Tom Winnick, who served as president of
DWS Investments Distributors for the past four years, has joined
RiverPark Advisors as partner in charge of marketing and distribution.
Winnick, 45, left DWS on September 15 and joined RiverPark October 1. He reports to CEO and managing partner
Morty Schaja. Winnick's post is new.
"This opportunity presented itself," Winnick told
The MFWire. "It's a great opportunity to be a part of the business which has a big future."
Winnick's departure from DWS came a few weeks in the wake of the exit of
Philipp Hensler, CEO and chairman of DWS Investments Distributors. Winnick's duties, as well as those of Hensler, have been assumed by
Michael Woods, who joined DWS in August as head of US distribution.
The day Winnick started at RiverPark,
Grail Advisors launched four active ETFs sub-advised by RiverPark.
"First and foremost we're an asset manager," Winnick said. "We also believe that active ETFs could be a disruptive technology."
Winnick said he will be "looking to build the team as the business dictates."
Winnick worked at DWS for almost seven years and before that spent nine years at Dreyfus.
