Matthew McGuire recently left his post as vice president of institutional marketing and client services, Ariel Investments president
Mellody Hobson confirmed to
The MFWire.
McGuire departed the Chicago firm around two weeks ago. He worked on business development and client servicing for the company's institutional accounts in the East Coast, and for strategic accounts across the nation.
The company is looking to "reassign [McGuire's] work," Hobson said,
adding that McGuire had been expressing interest towards moving
to alternative investments since about a year ago.
McGuire joined Ariel in 2003 following a stint as
chief investment officer for the New York State Common Retirement Fund.
