As of Monday morning, there's no update yet on the bidding for
Barclays' iShares.
The Wall Street Journal reported Saturday that several bidders were still in the running
to buy the business as of Friday and that the auction could wrap up as early as Tuesday.
A team-up between private equity firms
Bain Capital LLC and
Colony Capital LLC was
up against a group that includes
Apax Partners and
Hellman & Friedman, and there's also a possible separate
bid from
CVC Partners, the Journal reported, citing people familiar with the matter.
Goldman Sachs likewise remained in the running for iShares, according to the report.
The sale of iShares would give U.K.-headquartered Barclays an added boost after U.K. regulators
last week certified that Barclays has enough capital.
Yesterday was the deadline for iShares bids, according to a
Reuters article posted Friday afternoon, citing an anonymous source.
"An announcement could come as soon as Monday," a banker told Reuters.
