Bent Puts his NYC Apartment on the Block

by: Sean Hanna, Editor in Chief

Bruce Bent II, son of the founder of The Reserve and a senior vice president at the family-owned mutual fund firm, has put his New York City apartment up for sale. The New York Times describes the property as a "large palace atop 99 Jane Street in the far West Village, a block from the Hudson River, a full-floor penthouse, perfect for a movie star or a potentate."

For the full story on the the death of the Reserve and its Primary Fund, see MFWire's timeline.

According to the paper, the 4,500 square foot apartment is listed at $16.5 million.

What do you get for that price? The paper reports that there "are unobstructed views of the Hudson from a 60-foot-wide living room, a 4,500-square-foot rooftop garden, five bedrooms, four baths and a new kitchen with a six-burner stove, suitable perhaps for a cookbook author."

Bent's wife, Rebecca, told the paper that the couple decided to sell the apartment before a number of The Reserve's cash and money funds ran into financial difficulties in September. She explained that the couple would like to "move to a smaller space uptown that would require less maintenance."
