In an article as part of the WSJ's quarterly Investing in Funds section published Thursday, Ian Salisbury raises the question of who might be the next big firm to enter the ETF space might be. Salisbury points to speculation on Web sites that
Eaton Vance might be the next, and also notes that
Nuveen Investments has "nibbled around the edges of the ETF business," being a distributor of exchange-traded notes.
An Eaton Vance spokeswoman told Salisbury that firm has no current plans to offer ETFs, while a Nuveen spokeswoman declined to comment on possible additional plans
beyond ETNs.
In the quarterly section, the Journal also takes a look back
where fund managers went wrong,
the new challenges of value investing, and
lessons that can be learned from the quarter that was.
