The Republican's loss of the Senate was good news for James Hart, the new chief of the ICI's political action committee (or PAC to Washington insiders), reports Bloomberg
. The ICI was free to hire Hart, a Democrat, after the Republican's "K Street Project" crumbled along GOP's control of Congress. The ICI, some may recall, was one of the initial targets of the K Street gang when it was pressured to fire Julie Domenick (she held out for a year).
Daniel Crowley, the ICI's chief government affairs officer (and former general counsel for Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich), gets the money quote of the article:
"If you're always playing down the middle of the fairway, you don't have to worry about which way the political winds may be blowing," Crowley told Bloomberg
