The
Investment Company Institute's
Martin Flanagan and
Paul Schott Stevens were on Wall Street Friday morning to ring the opening bell of the
NYSE, in a moment that highlighted the centrality of mutual funds to 401(k) plans.
Their appearance celebrated the 25th anniversary of the 401(k) plan as a savings vehicle, and "the role of mutual funds as America's retirement investment of choice," explained an ICI press release.
