Columbia Management announced Tuesday that it has appointed
William J. Poulin as its new head of product strategy and development.
The investment management incarnation of
Bank of America, Columbia is based in Boston, Massachusetts, and controlled $361.1 billion in assets as of last December 31.
In his new role, Poulin will be responsible for retail and institutional product strategy and development, and will report to Chief Operating Officer
Roger Sayler. Poulin "will be instrumental in driving our new product development effort,"
Keith Banks, president of Columbia Management, said in a statement.
Poulin comes to Columbia from
Fidelity Investments, where he was vice president, investment product management and development. Previously, he served as executive vice president and director of marketing for LifeHarbor, Inc., in Cambridge. He also spent eight years in various positions at John Hancock Funds; most recently, he was the company’s senior vice president, marketing and corporate development.
Representatives at Bank of America were not immediately available for comment. Spokespersons for Fidelity could not yet confirm who will assume Poulin's duties.
