BMO Global Asset Management U.S. is the U.S. arm of BMO GAM, the multinational asset manager of a Canadian bank, BMO Financial Group. BMO (the Bank of Montreal) was established in 1817 and has a host of financial services business lines, including: commercial banking, investment banking, personal banking, and wealth management, as well as asset management.
BMO bought M&I (Marshall & Ilsley) in 2011, and that deal brought along a U.S. mutual fund business. In 2012 the Marshall Funds became the BMO Funds. The mutual fund family traces its roots back to 1992.
The BMO GAM network includes more than 20 offices, including teams in Chicago and Milwaukee, as well as Hong Kong-based Lloyd George Management, Toronto-based Monegy, London-based Pyrford International and U.S.-based Taplin, Cania & Habacht. Chicago, Hong Kong, London, and Toronto are BMO GAM's primary investment centers.
