Michigan Establishes New Window
The State of Michigan passed a law in 1997 that created a new defined contribution plan for state employees, Randy Taylor, vice president of public funds at State Street Bank, told the 401kWire.com. The state also had a 457 plan as well as a grandfathered 401(k) plan. These plans were administered separately by Putnam and Fidelity. When State Street Global Advisors (SSgA) was awarded the contract, it was also charged with creating a window conversion to allow participants to move from the defined benefit plan to the new defined contribution plan...
