The SoCal Colossus' Core Bond Fund Lineup Expands

The team at a 94-year-old, $3-trillion-AUM*, 9,300-employee** asset manager in Southern California are further expanding their four-fund core fixed income lineup.

Today, the folks at Capital Group [profile], filed to launch the American Funds Core Plus Bond Fund. Los Angeles-based Capital Research and Management Company will serve as the new, diversified, open-end mutual fund.

The American Funds Core Plus Bond Fund will come in 19 flavors:
  • A shares (AFCPX), with a maximum sales load of 375 basis points, a maximum deferred load of 75bps, and an expense ratio of 75bsp;
  • C shares (AFACX), with a maximum deferred load of 100bps, and an expense ratio of 145bps;
  • F-1 shares (AFAEX), with no load, and an expense ratio of 72bps;
  • F-2 shares (AFCFX), with no load, and an expense ratio of 45bps;
  • F-3 shares (AFCFX), with no load, and an expense ratio of 34bps;
  • 529-A shares (AFPBX), with a maximum sales load of 350bps, a maximum deferred load of 100bps, and an expense ratio of 70bps;
  • 529-C shares (AFPDX), with a maximum deferred load of 100bps and an expense ratio of 150bps;
  • 529-E shares (AFPEX), with no load and an expense ratio of 93bps;
  • 529-F-1 shares (AFPFX), with no load and an expense ratio of 77bps;
  • 529-F-2 shares (AFPGX), with no load and an expense ratio of 43bps;
  • 529-F-3 shares (AFPHX), with no load and an expense ratio of 39bps;
  • R-1 shares (AFPLX), with no load and an expense ratio of 143bps;
  • R-2 shares (AFPMX), with no load and an expense ratio of 138bps;
  • R-2E shares (AFPNX), with no load and an expense ratio of 115bps;
  • R-3 shares (AFPOX), with no load and an expense ratio of 98bps;
  • R-4 shares (AFPPX), with no load and an expense ratio of 68bps;
  • R-5 shares (AFPRX), with no load and an expense ratio of 39bps;
  • R-5E shares (AFPQX), with no load an an expense ratio of 49bps; and
  • R-6 shares (AFPSX), with no load and an expense ratio of 34bps.
  • All share classes' expense ratios bake in a 27bps fee waiver promised through November 1, 2026.

    The PM team for the American Funds Core Plus Bond Fund includes four partners from Capital Fixed Income Investors. Those portfolio managers are:
  • Xavier Goss;
  • David Hoag;
  • Damien McCann; and
  • Chitranga Purani.

  • The American Funds Core Plus Bond Fund's other service providers include:
  • American Funds Services Company as shareholder services provider and transfer agent;
  • Capital Client Group, Inc. as distributor and principal underwriter;
  • JP Morgan Chase Bank, N.A. as custodian;
  • Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP as counsel; and
  • PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP as independent accounting firm.
