Abby Johnson is expanding
Fidelity Investments' [
profile] presence in a key locale, even as the firm gives away a piece of that campus.

In the first quarter of 2023, the Boston Behemoth's team filled 200 new roles in their Smithfield, Rhode Island campus, company spokesperson Steve Austin tells
MFWire, and the campus now has more than 4,200 Fidelity associates. He adds that they plan to hire more there, too.
The hiring in Smithfield comes as Fidelity is
donating one of its three buildings there to
Bryant University, as
previously reported. That building, 100 Salem Street, is on Fidelity's Smithfield campus and is across the street from an entrance to Bryant.
Fidelity is donating 30 acres of land to Bryant, and the building being donated has 250,000 square feet. After the donation, Fidelity's Smithfield campus will still have two buildings with about 800,000 square feet combined, on 520 acres of land. Thus, Fidelity's donation amounts to one-third of its Smithfield buildings, about 24 percent of its Smithfield office space, and about five percent of its Smithfield land.
