Out of 18 publicly traded U.S. mutual fund firms tracked by MFWire, only two have seen their share prices drop since the end of 2019 (before the coronavirus crisis was in full swing), and 11 of those 18 have seen their share prices rise faster than the overall market's gains. (The S&P 500, as of market close yesterday, is up 21.93 percent since December 31, 2019.)

Fund firms' share gains so far in 2021 have been more modest, but they've still been mostly positive.
