GQG's Chiefs Elevate Five New Leaders

Reported by InvestmentWires Staff,

After GQG turned three years old this past June, CEO Tim Carver and chairman and CIO Rajiv Jain updated leadership within the company. Brian Kersmanc, Sudarshan Murthy, and Sal diGangi fill the newly created roles of two deputy portfolio managers and a global chief compliance officer, respectively. With this, Polyana da Costa has been named partner of the firm, and Rick Sherley has been brought on as associate general counsel.

Although the role of deputy PM is newly created, Kersmanc and Murthy have been with GQG since its start. Both work as senior analysts and were made partners in 2018. Carver comments that the core duties for analysts Kersmanc and Murthy will not drastically differ from what they have always been, saying that the two are "analysts first, portfolio managers second."

In addition, Carver tells MFWire that diGangi's new position was created in direct response to the firm's developing global context: "There are increasing regulatory requirements for firms like ours, so we continue to build infrastructure with our growth." diGangi has experience both nationally and internationally, having been chief compliance officer of USB O'Connor in New York and senior compliance officer at ING Investment Management in the Netherlands.

Like Kersmanc and Murthy, da Costa has been with GQG since the beginning. Her background in journalism distinguishes her from some of the other analysts. Carver notes that naming her partner is a testament to how much "nontraditional analysts" are valued as part of the GQG team.

Sherley has been working with GQG for the past couple of years. GQG is familiar with Sherley’s work, as even before he began his own legal consultancy Compass, Sherley worked with GQG's chief officer at Rainier Investment Management. Like diGangi, Sherley has international work experience. At Bank of America, he was responsible for helping build their non U.S. funds.
