Happy 529 day, fundsters!

Today in New York City, folks at Deutsche Bank are kicking off their eighth annual Global Financial Services Investor Conference. The investment bank's two-day conference is being held at the InterContinental New York Barclay in midtown Manhattan. Among speakers from more than 80 financial services companies, Federated Investors' president and CEO, Chris Donahue, will speak this afternoon.

Tomorrow Ron Carson and his team will kick off their spring 2018 Excell Conference at the Aria Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Carson himself, founder and CEO of the Carson Group, will speak at the three-day event, and other keynote speakers expected to appear include: Arianna Huffington, founder of the Huffington Post and founder and CEO of Thrive Global; Mark Randolph, co-founder of Netflix; and Howard Tullman, general managing partner of two venture capital funds.

Also tomorrow, the Forum for Sustainable and Responsible Investment (US SIF) team will kick off their eighth annual conference. The three-day event will be held at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C. and is being sponsored by a host of companies, including: Aberdeen Standard, Affirmative Investment Management (AIM), Bain Capital, Bloomberg, BMO Global Asset Management, Breckenridge Capital Advisors, Brown Advisory, Calvert, Campbell's, CBIS, ClearBridge, the College for Financial Planning, DANA, Domini, Eventide, FA magazine, First Affirmative, Greentech Capital Advisors, Hartford Funds, Iroquois Valley Farms, General Motors, ISS, KBIGI, Morgan Stanley, Morningstar, MSCI, Natixis, Natural Investments, North Sky Capital, Nuveen, OppenheimerFunds, Parametric, Parnassus Investments, Pax, Pimco, RBC Global Asset Management, Responsible Investor, Rise Up Coffee Roasters, S&P Dow Jones Indices, Solomon Hess Capital Management, Sustainalytics, Terna, Thomson Reuters, Trillium, VertueLab, Vigeo Eiris, and Walden Asset Management. Speakers scheduled to appear include: Robert Jackson, SEC commissioner; Flavia Micilotta, executive director of EUROSIF; Anna Pot, manager of responsible investments for APG Asset Management; Lenora Suki, head of product strategy for sustainable finance at Bloomberg; Kurt Summers, treasurer for the City of Chicago; Mark Tercek, president and CEO of the Nature Conservancy; Richard Vevers, founder and CEO of the Ocean Agency; Lisa Woll, CEO of US SIF; and many others.

On Thursday, Diane Blizzard, associate director of the Securities and Exchange Commission's (SEC's) division of investment management, will leave the regulatory agency. She spent 18 years at the SEC, and since 2012 she has led the investment management division's rulemaking efforts around mutual funds and RIAs (including asset managers).

Also on Thursday, folks at Keefe, Bruyette & Woods (KBW) will host the KBW Mortgage Finance & Asset Management Conference at the Westin Grand Central Hotel in New York City. Among others, AllianceBernstein (AB) president and CEO Seth Bernstein and Victory Capital chairman and CEO David Brown will both speak at the conference. Brown will be joined by Terence Sullivan, chief financial officer and head of strategy at Victory.

Friday is the deadline for submissions for the Mutual Fund Education Alliance's (MFEA's) 2018 Star Awards recognizing fund firms for outstanding communications, education, and marketing efforts.
