Dave Mertens
Jensen Investment Management
Managing Director
No one will be directly filling his role. Instead, his responsibilities will be divided between: Richard Clark, director of sales and marketing;Kim Foley, director of institutional services; and Linsey Owens, director of marketing.

Once Mertens leaves his post, they will report to Rob McGiver, a managing director and PM on Jensen's investment team.

Clark, Owens, and Foley have a combined 35 years of Jensen tenure between them. Clark has been with Jensen for 16 years and previously worked as a financial advisor at Morgan Stanley; Foley has been with the firm for seven years and previously held positions at Capital Group and Dimensional; Owens has been at Jensen for 13 years.

Mertens, 56, has been with the firm for fourteen years. He previously held positions at Berger Financial, Invesco, and Allmerica Financial.

Mertens plans to stay active in the industry post-retirement—he’ll serve as fund director and independent trustee for a series of funds sponsored by US Bank. US Bank has been serving the Jensen Quality Growth Fund in various capacities since 1992.

“That’s been an interest of mine for a while,” Mertens tells MFWire.

Outside the industry, Mertens will continue to serve as a member of the foundation board and chair of the investment committee for a local hospital system in the Portland, Oregon area. He’s also active with Reading Results, a literacy program focused on improving reading skills in early elementary school students.

Mertens is currently based in Portland, but post-retirement, he and his wife, Jill, will split their time between Portland and Vail, Colorado.
