The new Mirae [profile] U.S. chief is planning a distribution expansion.

Peter Lee, the freshly appointed CEO and chief investment officer of Mirae Asset Global Investments (USA) LLC, tells MFWire that it is still early in the planning process, Yet he expects to both bring in new hires from outside Mirae and reassign people internally to support the shift.

"I want expand our distribution channels ... I want to be more active with the RIA channels," and institutional investors, too, Lee says.

Traditionally, Lee adds, Mirae has been "very active with national wirehouses," and he plans to continue those efforts, too.

Mirae Asset USA has more than $6 billion in AUM and 45 employees. The Korean parent company has more than $100 billion in worldwide AUM and more than 640 employees.
