A MainStay [profile] sales executive recently joined a 401(k) industry startup.

MFWire has learned that Chicago-based Al Lazaro, formerly a vice president of DC I-O sales at New York Life's MainStay, has signed on with 401k Benna as national sales manager. Our sister publication 401kWire broke the news about Lazaro's role in the new company.

A spokesman for New York Life declined to comment on how Lazaro's duties are being handled. Yet 401k previously reported that new MainStay DC I-O wholesaling chief Jon Blaze is searching for several other wholesalers.

Lazaro is an alumnus of Bradley University. He joined MainStay in 2011 after working with Van Kampen and Wachovia.
