Is the ETF space about to make a major shift? Industry bigwig John Hyland says yes.

The chief investment officer at United States Commodity Funds [profile] says the news today out of Fidelity [profile] and BlackRock [profile] could signal the beginning of the "distribution era," write Barron's reporter Brendan Conway.

This would mean the focus for ETF shops would shift from developing new products to increasing sales of existing ones.
