Sentinel Says Farewell to a PM Vet

Reported by Neil Anderson, Managing Editor

A familiar face is taking over three growth mutual funds at Sentinel Investments [profile].

Last week the Montpelier, Vermont-based National Life Group subsidiary revealed that Elizabeth Bramwell will retire on March 31, putting co-PM Kelli Hill in charge of three mutual funds. Those funds are: three-star, $126.1-million Capital Growth (BRGRX); three-star, $30.4-million Growth Leaders (BRFOX); and two-star, $107.8-million Sustainable Growth Opportunities (WAEGX).

"I have been fortunate to work with so many wonderful people at Sentinel," Bramwell stated. "I am also looking forward to the next chapter in my life."

Sentinel hired Hill last year as a vice president and to co-PM the three funds alongside Bramwell [see MFWire.com, 4/7/2011]. The funds' dedicated analysts, vice presidents Sanil Daptardar and William Symon, will support Hill.

Bramwell worked at Bankers Trust, Davidson Capital Management, Gabelli & Company, Morgan Guaranty Trust Company and William D. Witter before running her own firm, Bramwell Capital Management, for more than 12 years. Sentinel bought Bramwell Capital six years ago [see MFWire.com, 12/14/2005]. Sentinel president and CEO Christian Thwaites described Bramwell as "an integral part of Sentinel."

Company Press Release

Montpelier, VT – January 19, 2012 – Sentinel Investments announced today that Elizabeth R. Bramwell, CFA, lead portfolio manager for the Sentinel large cap growth investment team, will retire on March 31, 2012.

“Liz has been such an integral part of Sentinel these past five years,” said Christian Thwaites, President and CEO of Sentinel. “She leaves us and our clients well‐positioned to build from the foundation she helped create. We’re very grateful for all that she has done.”

Of her retirement, Ms. Bramwell said, “I have been fortunate to work with so many wonderful people at Sentinel. I am also looking forward to the next chapter in my life.”

Ms. Bramwell’s 44‐year career began at Morgan Guaranty Trust Company in 1967, and includes stints at William D. Witter, Bankers Trust and Davidson Capital Management and managing the Gabelli Growth Fund for Gabelli & Company. Ms. Bramwell founded and ran her own investment firm, Bramwell Capital Management, for more than 12 years, during which time she launched the Bramwell Growth and Focus Funds.

She leaves the large cap growth investment team in capable hands. Vice President Kelli K. Hill, a 27‐year industry veteran, will assume full responsibility for the Sentinel Capital Growth Fund (Class A: BRGRX, Class C: SECGX, Class I: SICGX), Sentinel Growth Leaders Fund (Class A: BRFOX, Class C: SGLFX, Class I: SIGLX), and Sentinel Sustainable Growth Opportunities Fund (Class A: WAEGX, Class I: CEGIX).

“I’m thankful to have been able to work so closely with Liz, and honored to lead our team forward,” said Ms. Hill. “Our commitment to serving our shareholders has and will always come first.”

Ms. Hill will continue to work with the funds’ dedicated analysts, Vice Presidents Sanil Daptardar and William Symon, who together have more than 35 years of experience. Mr. Daptardar and Mr. Symon have each spent more than eight years working on the funds.
