Three weeks into the New Year an Direxion [see profile] is off and running. The firm has already made a few hires to focus on the advisor channel, with more to come.

John Cadigan, national sales manager, told the MFWire that the firm is bringing on board another wholesaler who will based in Florida to sell the firm's buy-and-hold products to advisors.

Cadigan also said the firm is looking to add alternative fixed income and real estate offerings to its portfolio sometime towards the end of the year. "A lot of advisors are looking to better manage risk and source return streams away from long-only investing, even in commodities," he said. "They're looking for something more opportunistic."
